What makes up the abuse and its after-effects?The alleged details of this sexual abuse case are both physical and emotional in nature

Although the dates of the alleged case go as far back as 2000, the victims’ memories are remarkably clear in laying out the alleged details of the abuse to Supreme Court depositions.

These depositions list the physicians as well as the university system as a whole as defendants–and these defendants will be called to answer to a number of charges as laid out by prosecutors.

A few of the physicians named in the landmark court case have allegedly been accused of mentally and physically assaulting hundreds of patients while in the position of gynecologist for the university system.

The victims were allegedly subjected to:

  • An excruciatingly painful procedure
  • Sexual contact
  • Civil rights violations
  • Sexual battery
  • Negligence
  • Touching of body parts for sexual gratification
  • Intentional infliction of emotional distress1

Earlier reports from a special committee advised the university system of rampant physical and mental abuse

This is not the first time that the UCLA university system has been told of abuses by physicians of university patients in the past.

In 2020, a special committee investigated and warned the California university system of all of the potential abuses, including an investigation by the Title IX committee that would neither confirm or deny its existence to reporters.

In this 2020 special committee report, a handful of current and past UCLA student health center employees who used to work with Wiesmeier and other physicians informed the university that he allegedly “engaged in the following conduct during exams:

  • Ignored patients’ requests that he not perform certain sensitive exams;
  • Consistently performed non-standard sensitive exams;
  • Appeared to become sexually aroused during exams;
  • Some procedures included unnecessary and repeated touching of the vagina and clitoris.”2

We believe that these victims should get the compensation and justice they deserve by addressing the doctors and institution that were allegedly the source of this humiliating sexual abuse.
